The white area shown in the model is a secured and secret compound inside Berlin. Basically a Stasi security center that for example also included work shops to build spying equipment or simply repair cars. The dark grey area is the prison as such. Since it was used as a remand center, inmates usually only spent there a few months. The maximum ever was more than two years.
