The Mona Lisa (Italian: La Gioconda; French: La Joconde), less commonly rendered as the Monna Lisa, is an oil painting on poplar wood by the famous Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. You will find direction signs all over the Louvre showing you the way to the most famous exhibit of the museum. You will find the painting in this hideous room protected by toned bullet-proof glass. It is surprisingly small and I am always thinking why someone would waste his precious time during a visit of this fantastic and elegant museum with the long walk to this room.

Wooden busts of the saints Kilian, Kolonat and Totnan in the Neumünster church in Würzburg. The work was created by Tilman Riemenschneider. Unfortunately it is only possible to show an almost 100 year old replica of the more than 500 year old original which was lost during World War II.

The Romano-Germanic Museum was built in 1974 in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral on the walls of an ancient Roman villa from the third century. This villa was discovered in 1941 during the construction of an air-raid shelter. The main room of the villa was decorated with the beautiful Dionysus mosaic (around 220/230 A.D). During the construction of the museum the new building was erected around and above the ancient villa. So the mosaic was not relocated into the museum but sill lies at its original location.
The Romano-Germanic Museum in Cologne also houses the world's largest collection of Roman glass art works. This small masterpiece shown in the picture is more than 1,600 years old.

Dionysus mosaic (around 220/230 A.D)
Sarcophagus of the Magi, a large gilded sarcophagus dating from the 13th century, and the largest reliquary in the Western world. It is thought to hold the remains of the Three Wise Men, whose bones and 2000 years old clothes were discovered at the opening of the shrine in 1864.
