Frankfurt is one of the most important economic and financial centers in Europe. The river Main and the high-rise buildings led to the nickname "Mainhatten". In fact Frankfurt is to my knowledge the only European city besides Paris that could claim to have a skyscraper skyline.
The city of Frankfurt itself has only about 600,000 citizens but lies in the heart of the very densely populated Rhein-Main area. Nevertheless you can find green acres only some miles away from the city center.
Rhein-Main Airport (12 km), Hanau (Germany) (17 km), Saalburg Roman Fort (19 km), Alzenau (Germany) (28 km), Ronneburg (Germany) (29 km), Mainz (Germany) (32 km), Gelnhausen (Germany) (37 km), Aschaffenburg (Germany) (37 km), Büdingen (Germany) (37 km), Rüdesheim am Main (Germany) (57 km)
